Urogenital fistula

Urogenital fistula is one of the most devastating diseases that affects both the male and the female, but is very prevalent and affects the female most. It comes in four ways.

The Visio vagina fistula, urethra vagina fistula, vesicovaginal fistula and utero vagina fistula. There are two major causes of the disease, one being obstruction during labour and the other, pelvic or urogenital surgeries.

A major symptom that identifies people suffering from this canker of a sort is, an irritating smelling discharge that comes from the vagina or anus. Its likelihood of surviving any medical treatment depends on the size that it has developed. If the hole created is small, then a cattier can be inserted to direct the flow and the hole sealed as time goes on, but if the hole developed is big, then one must undergo surgery.

In men, it is called lirifo graneroma. This happens when a man is involved in a road accident and the bladder stricter get blocked.

Annually, the disease affects over 50,000 to 100,000 women worldwide and in Ghana, it is prevalent in the Northern region.
