| "Superiority is a thing of the Mind" |
Gender superiority is what I define as who, thus the man and the woman,
who is higher in terms of quality, rank and the lots than the other. In getting
the real answer to this question, I have subjected myself to arguments,
commentaries and the lots from people of repute and substance, but to no avail.
Whatever the answers they gave merely stemmed out of sheer subjectivity than
objectivity. Men spoke in favour of their colleague men, women were no exception,
they equally spoke for themselves.
The intriguing aspect of the arguments I have heard which always came
from the men, especially those of the Christian faith, has always and would
always be that, even their religious belief bemoans women playing the lead role
wherever a man is. Interestingly, they always for a fact, start in no certain
direction, but always ended on the note or view that “even the bible says that,
Man is the head of the family”. For the empirical aspect of it, they always use
as their weapon, the first book of Corinthians 11:3 which states, “But... that
the head of every man is Christ; and
the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”(KJV).
I must confess that in all these situations, I always found myself on
the sideline all because, both of the divide seem to support their argument’s
and stance with certain impeccable evidences.
But, in recent times, when I behold the strides some women are making
that even some so called men cannot, am taken aback and, question this issue of
gender superiority. I have for a fact seen women move buses without a
difficult, women these days are steering the affairs of multimillion
establishments without a hindrance. In short, their efforts now are seen
everywhere, not only in areas where they are conventionally called specialists,
but equally at areas that have in the past been tagged “a no go area for them”.
To free my mind of this perception of religion and for that matter, the
bible (GOD) declaring men as being superior to women, I did a painstaking
research of the bible. And the conclusion I arrived at is this, none of the gender divide is superior to
the other, but superiority is
the thing of the mind. The book of Genesis chapter 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of
God created he him: male and female created he them”. The bible reading
bespeaks the fact that, God unlike the man (both male and female) does not take
the description “MAN” to mean the “male” but to he, God, it encompasses both,
the male and the female. He says he
created man… he: him male and female created he them. So the misconception
therein started from the redefinition Human has given to what God has not
defined. Therefore, we (man (male and
female) have in the long run misconstrued the wisdom of God.
Anyone who attempts to compare the definition of man in Genesis to that identified in the first book of Corinthians
would further deepen the arguments. But to clear such a situation or happening
that, the bible over the decades has seen and gone through major translations,
and those translators in their attempts to arrive at a proper description for
the male and female mistook man for the male and settled on a new term woman
for female. The fact still remains that, the English language would forever
remain a borrower of terms from other major languages like the Greek, Jew and
Latin. Therefore it stands to reason that the term woman which is a pure
English word do not hold, and cannot be taken for one. Without a doubt, I can
accuse the various translators in the past, who for no special reason all
happen to be males of championing an agenda of redefining Man (male and female) to suit their whims and caprices, So that
they can perpetuate this agenda of male
superiority over their fellow counterparts, the female.
To nullify the issue of headship
or leadership as seen in the book of
Corinthians, God before creation to an extent did not believe and trust man to
lead his fellow man. But what happened, man’s crave for superiority and the
inability to see God as the only Leader and provider, cried onto God for a
fellow man’s leadership. This eventually led to Samuel anointing Saul as
captured in the book of Samuel to lead the people of Israel, this was the
genesis of man leading his colleague man.
To the issue of who leads, God only chooses those who are ready and
willing to lead his people. He at no point in time stated that it’s only the
male nor the female he picks to lead his people. He chose Noah, Moses, Elijah,
Haggai, Esther and the lots when they were ready to lead his people.
To God, there is nothing like superiority, but again if there is at all,
its a thing of the mind and until the female begins to disabuse their minds of
what has become an infirmity to them not fully realizing their innate
potentials, the male who seemed to be always ready for such opportunities would
jump at them as and when they come.
This is my mother’s day present to all females, you are superior if only
you work towards superiority.
