Hi dreary,
Sorry
for not asking about how you’re doing. I don’t wish you could be in the best of
health, because of late; there have been a widespread report of the hardship
you are faced with my beloved.
Quite
understandably, with the existence of “dumsor” (localized name for erratic
power supply) and the accompanying reports of price hike of service delivery,
and other unbearable havocs it has come with, what else can I wish?
But
I still do not see why this should warrant a sleepless night. It is reported
that, the normal practice of late is, you wake up in the middle of the night thinking
endlessly of what your decisions should be, come November, 7, 2016.
HMMMM!
You might really be suffering?
Come
to think of it, where have you dropped your love for the beautiful game of
soccer? At least, if the politician through the way he governs has failed to
cheer you up, your darling club kotoko shouldn’t have failed.
Ouch
sorry! Oh blame my short memory sweetie; I forgot that in your last letter, you
lamented how litigants have succeeded in killing the once competitive local
league. The game, which should at least played the envious role of a
palliative, as you sarcastically pointed is now played in the lobbies of the
court house.
Once
more, who should I blame but your dislike for expatriate things. Otherwise, I
should have recommended the strongly contested English Premiership or any other
foreign league.
But
sweetie, I am surprised you of all people should get to this stage. I don’t
know what you so much expect of the politician that you have made him a god
over your happiness.
Or
is it an angel you so much think the politician for? I think so! It is only
your lack of understanding as the good old book says, that is making you perish
with this childish idea you call hope.
Honey!
Kindly don’t take offence at my tone. I know I sound very strict, but it’s
about time we put things where they belong.
The
fact is, if at all angels ever existed in politics, sorry to tell you that,
they are all dead and gone. And you actually deceive yourself, if your thinking
is that by changing governments through the ballots every four, or eight years,
you shall find one.
The
only angels that I have lived to see in politics were the likes of Nelson
Mandela, Kwame Nkrumah, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr, and Abraham
Lincoln. You can continue to name them, but unfortunately, they like the
dinosaur, have all gone into extinction. I am definite with this conviction;
they are extinct species.
The
only man, who in my estimation nearly attained the angel status, was our Late
Prof. John Evans Atta Mills. But like I always say, he was the only sheep among
the goats and there was no way he could have survived.
The
paradox! We collectively through our love for mediocrity, but hate for truth
prematurely sent him on an early shower. How sad!
And
until you come to terms with the basic understanding I seek to put across,
peace and joy are far from you. You only are digging for yourself an early
grave by constantly holding brief for the lack of heart politician to better
the lots of his generation.
What
are the benefits of your years of party foot soldiering, serial calling and the
insults hurled at your own blood.
You
might want to justify this by the fringe material things you get after the days
of sweat, but the question you still have dodged to answer is, how far can
these pittances of a reward carry you? You guessed rightly dear.
People
like me who have come to terms with this basic understanding have done our self
a great deal of service.
Why? We no longer have to grumble between
available political leaders, as to who is fitting to be given the chance to
rule. Because we know the value is still the same and it would forever remain
the same. Sadly enough we are left with no other option than to stick with
them.
Kindly
don’t subject yourself to this mental decay of the internal wailing, give your
mind the liberation it deserves. Otherwise you shall continue to live in the
fool’s paradise of hoping of an alternative to bring a change that never
existed until you take your destiny into your own hands.
So
instead of dreaming continuously without an end, I urge you to wake up from the
slumber. This is the only suggestion I can provide for now. As mom would always
advice, until the dreamer wakes up to reality, the dream is not far from
turning into a nightmare!
If
November 7 happens to meet you in good health, go and perform the honorable
task of casting the ballot for the lesser of two devils.
It
is a principle that is simple to understand,
“The lesser
of two evils principle (or lesser evil principle) is the
principle that when faced with selecting from two unpleasant options, the one which
is least harmful should be chosen.”
TO BE CONTINUED…!
