PLAYING GYMNASTICS WITH THE COFFIN, OUR DELIGHT!

Life is about the joy and fulfillment it offers. Some would find such fulfillment in the monetary gains they make out of it, but for us, it is about popularity, fame and been appreciated by the masses in around the environs of cape coast and beyond.

These were the exact words of Emmanuel, Leader and founder of the more than a decade old Emmanuel services; a group of young enthusiastic undertakers in Ghana’s former National Capital, Cape coast.

The group has had the opportunity of performing at funerals, not only in the Central Regions, but in the Western and the Ashanti Regions.

In chat after a breath-taking performance to a group of people gathered at a funeral over the weekend, the leader had these interesting revelations for my cherished readers.

The group which is made up of six young men according to Emmanuel started ten years now.

Its aim was to carry as it may, “coffins” for people who approached them for their services.

It isn’t as it might sound their only sources of livelihood, but aside it, there have their individual jobs doing too.

Interestingly, the group also revealed that, they are not into the venture for money as a reward. 

They take much delight in doing it with joy.

Also, they take much delight in the popularity and the fame it can earned them. They want people to appreciate and see them as also offering their quota to the development of their community.

The negatives are that, people have ignorantly attributed their successes to unsubstantiated mystical powers. This, the group debunked as untrue.

Some members of the group too would have to quite their jobs because of the hostility other employees showed towards them.

Emmanuel narrated the bizarre experience of having to quite working for a beach resort establishment due to the fact that, a colleague employee went about paddling the claim that he was a wizard. The reason he disclosed was for the fact that he was carrying corpse.

“There are several other bizarre experiences” he retorted

The claim and several others have led the initial people he started the group to quite. But others, he said did come to fill the vacuum created by their departure.

He advised people to stick to what they feel can help build their lives not what others would wish they build their lives with.

People at times wouldn’t be happy to see you not follow the social order so to say, but the fact is, we all have our individual lives to live- he opined.
