“when I check what I have been getting in America in
relation to what I do make in Ghana, one day I stood up and told my people, I
have to come back home” this words of Mr, Laryea, an accomplished businessman
who fortunately or unfortunately happens to be a former inmate of both Kumasi
and Nsawam Prisons, heralds yet another edition of felixscorner.com periodic
inspirational interviews from ‘great minds, making it in Ghana, absolutely out
of nothing.
Mr, Daniel Laryea also known as “Atinka”, in a
thirty minutes interview he granted Felixscorner.com at his Nugua
Residence, Accra, shares the story of how he became a millionaire.
Mr Laryea is the brain behind the success
story of Bebeto Industries Limited, an industry headquartered in Kumasi,
Ashanti Region with various distribution outlets spared across the nook and
crannies of the country.
Down memory lane, Mr Laryea, who is also affectionately referred to as
‘Atinka’ started by walking ‘felixscorner.com’ through some ordeals
he went through as a foreigner on his sojourn faraway America. Paramount among
such ordeals was his daily job haunt, but to no avail. An ordeal he opined even
sent some colleague greener pasture seekers like him drink and smoke, all against their own will. Situations he attested
got worsen by his inability to raise enough money to come back home. So through
his daily struggle to raise money to return home, he ended up committing a
crime that landed him in the custody of the Immigrations in American.
The process that
landed him into the waiting arms of the immigration officers he revealed was a
calculated one because he knew that was the only way he could get back home,
since his finances at the time could not have helped him meet such a dream.
In response to a
question, ‘Mr Atinka’, the owner of Bebeto Industries Limited, produces of
beverages of different assortment, vehemently debunked the assertion that ‘grass is only greener abroad’. Years abroad
could not help him raise the millions he enjoys now.
In a sentimental manner, he admonished the
youth against the insatiable crave to go abroad. “Ghana is better” he stressed.
He buttressed his assertion with the example that, he in person has advised
several colleagues against the notion of going abroad, but to no avail. Such
colleagues he revealed after their return home on an unsuccessful sojourn
abroad come to regret going against his advice, just because he as an
individual have made it big right here
in Ghana.
“Some
of them broke into tears when I gave them the opportunity to come and have a
look at my company in Kumasi”
For what might
be termed as his darker part, he confessed to have ever been an inmate of
Kumasi and Nsawam Prisons for various crimes committed, a situation which could
have stifled his efforts, but for the help of God.
He admonished
the youth especially those from very destitute homes to never give up on their
life time dreams, but with persistence and determination, they should with
humility and trustworthiness handle whatever that comes their way without fault,
in so doing, he said, God in heaven would shower his blessings on their handy
works.
What a beautiful ending, to what could have been, a lengthy incarceration of the mind. God did set him free, so that he in turn, could be the shining light at the end of the tunnel, for so many struggling ones. The grass is not always greener, on the other side.Blessings.
ReplyDeleteParrillaturi, it just an issue really appreciating a humble beginning and identifying your passion.
ReplyDeleteThis is something that people need to read about; someone who takes a not-so-good experience and changes his or her life for the better. And while doing that, he was able to help others, as well! I hope people can be like Mr. Atinka. We should try to stay positive, even when things are going the opposite way. Thank you for sharing his story with us, this is a very inspiring post. Have a good one!
